This book is meant to be played as aggro as possible. Your first hand you don't necessarily need to play out, but your second hand does need to start stacking the field with units. Position of your units is huge mid-game because late game you should have all of your tiles filled. Don't be afraid to lose units but you do need board dominance mid-game so don't needlessly sacrifice either.
This book is very flexible so enjoy!
